This is not natural. I slowly opened my eyes. What just happened? I couldn’t see a thing. One minute, I was in that alley, the next I was… here. Wherever “here” was. There’s so much green everywhere. I can’t feel anything.

“Hello? Is anybody here? Melissa? Hello? Hello?” I paused. Was that… rumbling? Shit. That’s not good. I turned to run. My feet felt like lead. I… I… I can’t move. The rumbling got closer. I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die!

I pushed myself to run. It didn’t feel like I was moving. Still, I kept pushing. I didn’t want to die. I shut my eyes and kept trying to run.

Suddenly, I could move. Someone grabbed my hand.

“Come on!”

I didn’t argue. I shut my eyes and kept running.

My body felt like it was floating. I opened my eyes. There was nothing there. Only cloudy green. I put my hand to my chest. What is this?

“How do I get out of here?”

I looked up when I heard whispering. I paused. What was this now?

My hand dropped to my side. My body calmed down. I had my answer. I started walking again. I know how to get back.

“Cross through the seven gates and you will get home.”
