Ann didn't have a good childhood. Her strict Catholic mother was abusive. Her father left them. Ann's mother constantly told her that she was stupid, ugly, she would go to hell, and the list goes on. To make matters worse, the mother would beat her daughter with her wooden cane constantly. Ann lived in hell.

At age fourteen, Ann found a false Eden. She joined a demon cult named St. Loy's Haven. Ann thought she found happiness in the cult. But this was an illusion. The cult contained eight boys and two girls. They did a lot of drugs. Ann got hooked to Poseidon real fast. The cult also sacrificed humans. All of the victims were beautiful young women. Ann had no problems with the cult at first, but one victim would change her views forever. Ann and Jessica, the other girl in the cult, usually pick up their victims on the street and lead them to the woods. Their latest victim was an eight-year-old girl. At first, Ann thought nothing of the victim. But as the trio walked on, her conscience set in at long last. Ann tried to delay the girl's fate by leading her and Jessica through "short-cuts" that lead no where. But finally, Jessica lead the way. Ann couldn't bring herself to watch or participate in the killing that night.

For years, Ann fell into depression. She had many nightmares about all of victims of St. Loy's Haven. Ann constantly did more Poseidon to make the pain go away. Her mother did even more damage to her daughter. When she found out that Ann was part of St. Loy's Haven, she flew into rage. The mother beat her daughter mercilessly and said that because Ann was half demon she would definitely go to hell. This destroyed Ann badly. She began using even more Poseidon and drinking. Finally at seventeen, Ann couldn't take it anymore. She was trapped. The girl had to get away. So, Ann told St. Loy's Haven that she was quitting. Good, but one small problem: If you leave the cult, you die or your life becomes hell. Arsine, the cult's leader, and the other boys beat up Ann and threw her into the river. She have been dead if an old hadn't found her and took her to the hospital.

While recovering in the hospital, Ann met Christopher King. At the time, he was married and had two children. Chris took care of Ann daily. The Goth girl couldn't believe it. Someone was actually nice to her without any motives. Chris was also a police officer at the time. So the girl was suspicious, but in time, Chris gained her trust and Ann told him everything. Out of pity, he in turn vowed to protect and care for Ann forever. Over time, Ann's affection for Chris grew. Chris in return fell in love with his patient. The police, Ann's mother, and Chris's wife frowned upon the idea. Soon, Chris filed for divorce. When Ann was eighteen, she and Chris married. For once in her life, Ann was happy. But it didn't last long. The past always followed.

Ann became pregnant at twenty-one. This was a problem. This was unplanned. Ann clearly wasn't stable enough to be a mother yet. But Chris stood by his wife. In November, Stanly was born. Ann's depression grew worse. But that would soon change. Ann became pregnant again. Thus, the birth of Bethany. Ann saw her new daughter as her light and salvation, but fate would mock the Goth woman again. On the night of July seventh, Arsine and the boys of St. Loy's Haven broke into the Kings' house while Ann and Chris were out on a date. The heartless thugs beat and locked Stanly in the hall closet and snatched eight-year-old Bethany out of her bed, beat her, stripped her, tied up her hands, and drowned her in the bathtub. When Ann found her daughter dead in the bathtub, she was crushed. Things went from bad to worse.

Ann grew addicted to pain killers and hit Stanly time after time. Chris finally decided to move away from South Carolina for Ann's sake. So the family moved to Japan. Ann has found comfort in writing. Chris got her a job at Tokyo-Zion Academy. She is still depressed about Bethany and carries her doll around as a reminder. Chris and Stanly are trying to help Ann and keep her away from the police.
