Baby Doll’s Light

So pretty. Her light looked so pure. So clean. His fingertips reached out to touch it again. His body shivered.

“Mmm.”

He closed his eyes and took the sensation in. His body felt so warm. He could see her memories. The traces were small, but powerful enough. He just had to have more.

He opened his eyes and took a step back. Right. He was going to have to get her back. The gate couldn’t open on his own. He needed her to do it. One piece of her soul let him see the gate. Only a small crack of it. His fingers reached for it, but he could never touch it. This wasn’t good enough. He had to have more.

There was the other source, of course. How do you think he managed to sense her in the first place? The first soul he trapped here wasn’t strong enough to open that gate. He needed more than one. He was on a good start with her. But that boy had to go and steal her away.

He gritted his teeth. How did that kid get in here? He had to have help from the outside. That had to be it. It didn’t matter. He had to get her back.

Botan smiled to himself. He too could feel her light. His captor didn’t get everything that he wanted. The angel already knew what was coming next. He chuckled and shook his head. Botan had resigned himself to his fate. But she and that boy changed things. They promised to get him back. That boy would have to get her back. He managed to get all but her light. That boy was going to have to hurry back before it was too late.

Botan took a heavy breath. He’s looking at him now.

“What are you smiling at?” he asked. The angel smirked and shook his head.

“Oh, no reason,” he lied. He sneered at him. What was he going to do? It wasn’t like Botan was going to escape anywhere. He had him right where he wanted him. The angel lifted his chin. His captor sneered and turned away. Botan smirked as he bid his time. That boy would have to come back. For now, that light next to him kept him afloat.

He held out his hand and started chanting. It worked the first time. Maybe it could work a second time. He closed his eyes as the black clouds swirled around at his fingertips. He was going to get all of her this time.

He wasn’t the only one that was aiming to have all of her back.
