Chapter
Thirteen: Kayako:
Being king is
not everything that it’s cracked up to be. Everyone sucks up to you all of the
time. There’s really no one to talk to. It’s just really… boring. There’s
nothing to do here. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. At times I wanted to be
alone.
Lately, I have
been watching the world. Over the years, humans have grown and multiplied. They
have evolved so well. They speak many languages. They can build things. They
know to gather food. They are even chasing after goals and knowledge. To be
honest, I am quite impressed by all of this. Naturally, I kept this to myself.
My followers were still jealous of Father’s “greatest creation”. If they saw
their leader admiring these humans, they would not be a happy bunch.
And I am alone
because of this.
One day, I was
looking out on the world like a normally do. Not much going on at the time. Just
the same old things that humans have been doing to live since they were first
created. That’s when I saw her.
She was washing
clothes in a river in what would today be called Japan. Was she the most
beautiful woman in the world? No. Bayu will still forever be the most beautiful
woman in the world to me. The woman on earth look beautiful in her own way.
Sure, Hell had some decent women to look at, but they all started to blend
together after a while. It was nice to see a human woman for a change.
She threw back
her long black hair. Her face looked so pale. I focused my eyes deep onto every
detail. Small violet eyes and plump little red lips. Her cheeks looked like
powder covered in snow. Her lips seemed to be trembled. She looked nervous about
something. Right away, I felt that I had to protect her. I reached out to touch
the thin air holding her image.
“See something
you like?” I heard behind me. I turned and saw a slender young man with long
purple hair to his waist. He wore light grey and green robes.
“Oh, it’s you,
Beelzebub,” I said. He walked over to my side.
“Yes,” I said.
He saw the woman a gave her a strange look.
“A human?” he
asked. “You’re into that?” I shook my head.
“I don’t know…”
I said. Beelzebub tilted his head.
“I don’t get
it,” he said.
“Get what?” I
asked.
“Why her?” he
asked. “Why a human?” I shrugged as I watched finish washing the laundry.
Something inside of me told me to try and meet her. I rose to my feet. I walked
over to the heavy black oak doors as if in a trance.
“My lord?”
Beelzebub asked.
“I will be back
for a while,” I said. “Please watch over things for me.”
“My lord?” he asked. I held up my hand and vanished
into thin air. I could still hear Beelzebub calling my name.
