Chapter Six: New
Identified Threat:
Doyle wasn’t the
only one who learned of Lauren’s existence.
Many others
started to learn about her attacks from the news. A vampire that could walk
around in sunlight? Already, she caused polarizing results. She could be of
great use to the entire race. Or maybe be the death of it.
“But what shall
we do with her?”
“We have to kill
her! She is a danger to us all!”
“Aren’t we being
too rash? She could help us win over these humans.”
“But we aren’t
at war with them.”
“We could be.”
“It’s only a
matter of time…”
The four main
clans keep arguing with each other over Lauren’s fate. Her actions were too
reckless for an experienced vampire. This would’ve been fine if she was just a
newbie vampire. But, Lauren was advanced according to the man who turned her. It
didn’t help that they couldn’t locate him anymore.
“You think that
he was killed?”
“A strong
vampire like him? That would be impossible. He’s probably in a deep sleep.”
“Is such a thing
possible?”
“I guess.”
The discussion
got more heated as the nights worn on. It didn’t help that the sketch of Lauren
didn’t help matters. The humans even wanted to kill her or capture her for
research. Both sides fought with their ideas on what to do with her. One young
vampire stood up with an idea.
“Why don’t we
capture her first?” he asked.
“What will we do
with her after that?” the head of his house asked. The youth shrugged.
“That will
depend on her,” he said. Gradually, the vampires of California agreed to capture
Lauren and let her plead her case. Some of them weren’t so keen on this plan. A
small band planned to kill her.
For now, everything remained low, but wound up. Whether they wanted to use Lauren, kill her, or capture her, they all wanted to see what would happen next.
