Chapter
Seventy-Five: Yayoi:
I met Yayoi and
things became complicated. I had just made it back to my kingdom. I thought that
I had slipped in unseen. I just needed to get back to the castle and the office.
I could see said castle down the road. If I just started to move right now…
“Hello, my
lord,” a woman’s voice said. I froze and whipped around. My heart pounded
against my chest.
“Wow,” was all I
could say. This woman was stunning. Stunning didn’t begin to cover it. She too
looked so pale. Her dark hair came down to her shoulders. Deep red lips and deep
blue eyes. I gulped.
“Oh,” I said.
This woman gave me a strange look.
“Are you okay?”
she asked. I blinked for a moment.
“Huh? Oh, yeah,
yeah,” I said. “I was just on a little walk.” She raised her eyebrow at me.
“Oh really?” she
asked.
“Yeah,” I said
again, nodding. We didn’t speak for moment. Something about her gaze made me
feel so small. I started to backing away.
“Did Judith send
you here?” I asked.
“I don’t know
who that is,” she said, shaking her head. I couldn’t tell if she meant that or
if she was playing dumb. I waved off my words.
“Never mind,” I
said. I nervously laughed. The woman tilted her head. I breathed out. What was I
doing? I’ve never acted like this before. I just stared at the woman.
“Would you like
to walk with me?” I asked. The woman’s eyes twinkled.
“Sure,” she
said. “I don’t have anything better to do.” I suddenly felt much better.
“Okay,” I said.
“I wasn’t really trying to go back to work anyway.” I held out my arm to her.
The woman smiled as she took it.
“My name is
Yayoi,” she said as we started walking.
“Nice to meet
you,” I said. “I’m Lucifer.”
“I know,” she said. A shiver ran down my spine when she said that. Somehow, I liked it. I just knew that I had to see her again too. See how things were about to get complicated?
