Crown Fish
Let me tell you how I joined Thomas Crown.
-Year and a Half Ago-
I had just arrived in Japan at the time. While I was in England, I had saved up
the money to get here. But, I still needed work.
Aden was the one who got me the job. (Don’t worry, she didn’t fil me on this
one.)
“Japan has many writing groups,” she told me.
“Come on,” Aden said. “You want to get your name out there, don’t you?”
“Well… yeah.”
“Then give Thomas Crown a try. They have a solid reputation and high marks. Give
them a shot. You might even impress them.”
“Alright.”
I gathered up my poems and short stories. I applied on a Monday. By Sunday,
Damon called me.
“Is this… Noizchild Johnson?” he asked on the phone.
“Yes?” I said.
“My name is Damon Clark,” he said. “I’m the owner of Thomas Crown. Are you
available for an interview today?” My jaw dropped.
“Yes!” I about yelped. “When?”
“This afternoon at two,” he said. “I look forward to seeing you.”
“Thank you, sir!” I shouted. I bowed even though we were on the phone. Five
interviews later and I started working at Thomas Crown part-time. (All of the
full-time positions were taken at the time.)
--------
For the most part, I could adjust easily. The hours and the pay were balanced.
Damon took his time to help me develop my writing and editing skills. I’ve seen
Thomas Crown grow and flourish in the year and a half I’ve been there. Some of
the full-time and part-time writers were easy to get along with. Others were
Rolo, Patsy, and Tanya. I even rose through the ranks in the part-time track.

-Now-
It’s been a good run, but it’s time for me to leave. It’s been time for me to go
for months. After this project with team is complete and sells, I am gone.
Gone.
