Chapter Forty-Three: Out of Balance:

Julia has so many men wrapped around her finger. So tightly that the threads could pop. Something has to give. It looked like it was destined to happen at the Fall dance. Let’s see. Julia has currently Wallace pursuing her. Who else is there? There’s also her fellow lead actor. He’s everything that would look perfect for her. Yet, Julia can’t stand him.

“Will you go out with me?” he asked.

“Not a chance,” she said. She said that without a single word. He tried to act all tough.

“Sure,” he said. “It’s cool.” He stuck out his hand to shake. Julia smiled as she shook it. She could see what he really felt in his eyes. On the surface, the actor tried to stay civil the whole time. Still, everyone knew. It must have driven him crazy. Still, he wasn’t the only one.

There were others. Of course there would be. Julia was gorgeous. She was also really nice. No way a girl that perfect could exist. She must have dirt on her. (Wallace might have seen some.) But who wants it?

If she doesn’t stop this, there’s going to be a war pretty soon. Julia doesn’t care to stop it. Why would she? The attention was on her. She was the princess of the college after all. Julia had plans after college as well. She had many ideas and was going to work them out for the next four to six years. Julia had a charmed existence.

What about the boys who like her? Who is she going to end up with? Does she even want to date? Even her friends didn’t have an answer for that.

“Why do you do this?” Leslie asked. Julia just turned to her with a smile on her face. The girl with red hair frowned at her.

“You are playing an awful game,” she said. “What if someone gets hurt?” Julia smiled and shrugged. Leslie narrowed her eyes. Suddenly, she felt like it had to be up to her to do something before it all got out of hand. She knew exactly where to start.

On the other side of campus, Wallace sneezed.

“You okay, man?” Rocky asked. The country boy looked up.

“Yeah,” I said. “Just got a little bit cold is all.” His neighbor gave him an odd look.

“I think someone was talking about you, man,” he said. Wallace wrinkled his nose.

“Why would they do that?” he asked.

“Beats me,” Rocky said. The country boy just started me before going back to his homework. The other boy shrugged and went back to his homework. Maybe it wasn’t really that important. Oh well.
