Chapter Forty-One: Princess Julia:

And what of Julia in all of this? What does she think of Wallace? Everyone around her doesn’t quite get it. Why would she go for someone like him? Rose tilted her head.

“What do you see in him?” she asked. Julia turned around.

“Hm?” she asked.

“Wallace,” the director said. “He’s just so…” She started to move her hands about as she spoke. Almost like doing so would jog something she wanted to say. Rose finally gave up and lowered her hands.

“You know what?” she asked. “I can’t think of anything.” Julia giggled. Rose gave her a strange look.

“What?” she asked.

“I’ve known him since we were kids,” Julia said.

“Huh? Was he always like that?” Rose asked.

“Yeah,” she said, nodding. The director didn’t seem to be getting it. She frowned and pursed her lips.

“Are all country people weird?” she asked. The leading lady raised her eyebrow.

“Wow, judgmental much?” she asked. Rose put up her hands.

“Okay, okay,” she said. “I’m sorry for that.”

“It’s fine,” Julia said. She tossed back her dark hair. Rose pressed her lips together. How many weeks have they known each other? She still couldn’t figure her star out. Julia could have any guy she wanted. She never seemed interested in anyone. Some that she thought she was a lesbian. Some thought she was asexual. She blew them away when she started to be seen in public with Wallace. No one even paid any attention to him until then.

But how did she really about the country boy?

“Do you really like him?” Mia asked. “Tell me honestly.” Julia turned to her with a smile on her face. She just shrugged as she tried not giggle. Mia raised her eyebrow.

“Is that a yes or a no?” she asked. Julia smiled and shook her head. Then she turned on her heel and walked away. Mia was left there, looking just as confused as when she first asked the question. What kind of an answer was that? That was what Julia’s response was. What kind of a game was she playing here? What was the end goal here? Only Julia knew the answer to that.

When she made it back to her dorm, she pulled out her phone.

“Hey, baby,” she said. “You want to go to fall dance with me?” The actress poked out her lower lip.

“Aw, please?” she asked. Her lips curved into a smile.

“Great,” she said. “Are you going to pick me up? Great. I will see you at seven.” She blew a kiss into the phone before hanging up. Julia smiled to herself as she twirled about. She flopped back onto her bed. Does she even know what the end game was? Julia didn’t seem to care. She’s just living for best life right now. She looked up when she heard a knock on her door.

“Yeah?” Julia asked.

“We’re going down the cafeteria to grab a bite,” her roommate said. “Are you coming?” The lead actress sat up.

“Sure!” she said. Julia jumped to her feet and headed over to the door. For now, the games with Wallace would have to wait. She just needed to get something to eat.
