Chapter Six: Round One:

By sundown, Shannon drove Bella to Drop Bottom Black Woods. The girls didn't speak the whole time and Shannon didn't even attempt to start any form of communication.

"It wasn't my job to talk to the target," she told the police.

"And giving her to the monsters was your job?" the cops asked. Shannon gave them a little shrug.

    "Pretty much," she said.

"So what happened after you dropped her off at the woods?" the detective asked.

"I don't know," she replied on the tape. "I just drove off."

"Why didn't you call us sooner?" they asked. Shannon rolled her eyes upwards to the ceiling.

    "Wasn't my business," she said.

"So, isn't wasn't your business if a girl ended up getting attacked or not?" the cop asked.

"That's right," she said. "Can I talk to my lawyer now?"

After Shannon drove Bella to the woods, she stopped the car. The victim looked around in silent confusion. She turned to the driver.

"Why did we stop?" she asked. Shannon only looked out the windshield.

"Get out," she said. The other girl gave her a free look.

    "Why?" she asked.

"This is far as I am to go with you," Shannon told her.

"What are you talking about?" the girl asked.

"Get out," the driver replied. "Get out now!" She shoved the girl right out of the car. Bella yelped as she fell out of the car. She didn't even get time to get up before Shannon drove off. The target rose to her feet and dusted herself off. She paused when she heard someone walking up behind her.

"I was to lead her into the woods that day," Jeff, one of Janine's former friends, said. "I found her just at the entrance where Shannon had left her. I said 'hi,' and she asked, 'Who are you?' I told her that I was a friend of Shannon's." After a brief conversation, he led her into the woods.

"It was such an easy thing to do," he explained. "I got her to trust me and she went along with it."

The walk started out as a normal one. Jeff and the victim talked about school and just life in general. He did most of the talking. She might have developed a crush on the guy; it was hard to say. Halfway down the dirt trail, Jeff stopped walking. Bella looked on at him, confused.

"Jeff?" she asked. He clenched his fists.

"I'm so sorry to do this to you," he lied. Naturally, Bella didn't get what he was saying.

"What are you talking about?" she asked. Before she knew, Jeff turned around with a huge rock in his hand bashed her in the head with it. She dropped to the ground instantly. He shook his head and dragged her off the path into the woods. Moments later, she awoke to him raping her. Bella scratched at him to get him off, but he pinned her down by the arms and squeezed on tight, nearly breaking her wrists. She kept screaming at him to let him go, but hit her in stomach to shut her up. He didn't stop as the tears filled her eyes.

When he was finished, he dragged her to her feet and pushed her to keep walking deeper into the woods. That was just round one of the "game" for the night.
