Ceremony

Kathy hurried up to her room and got lost in her imagination.

-Kingdom of Pink Dreams-

Today is a special day in the Kingdom of Pink Dreams.

A new princess will rise to the throne. The stuffed bear rejoiced. Everything has to perfect. The cotton candy clouds are nice and fluffy. Streets of rock candy were nicely polished. Singing filled the air. The bees filled the cups with honey while the spiders weaved silk tapestry to cover the castle walls. Shops and houses hung bright pink banners outside. The cooks got to work with making the tastiest meals in the land. Everywhere the people went, the smells made their mouths water. The servants looked their best in their bright colors. Ponies were all fed and jeweled up. The royal court sat in the throne room all dressed up and waiting. The ceremony would begin at noon.

The new princess must look her best. Her maids did their best to help her. She will wear all white today. Long white dress, white gloves, white stockings, and little white shoes. One of her hand maidens out Baby’s Breath in her hair. She looked so beautiful in her mirror. There is a knock on her door. The princess and the hand maidens looked up to see the royal butler.

“My lady,” he said. “It is time.” The princess rose to her feet with her hand maidens.

“Please follow me,” the butler said. He led the party down the red and gold hallway. The lights shined brightly in the lamps as they walked by. Up ahead, trumpets blew and the crowd roared. The giant golden doors opened. Up ahead, a bright pink throne waited for the new princess. A wizard in purple robes held out his hands and the room went silent.

“People of Pink Dreams!” he said with his booming voice shaking the room. “We welcome a new era this afternoon!” The light pink spotlight focused on the young new princess. She kept her eyes lowered as her cheeks turned a soft red.

“Princess Arora, please take your place at the throne!” the wizard announced. Two of the older hand maidens had to nudge her forward. The little girl looked like a bride walking down the long red carpet up to the giant throne. The people in the audience on either side to her bowed. In the corner of the room, the orchestra started to play small music fit for ballet. Each note seemed to lift the new princess’ spirit. She began to perked up when she was steps away from the throne. The wizard held out his thin, boney hand. A tiny chill ran through her body as he pulled her up towards the giant chair. Once she was seated, everything went quiet. The wizard began to chant as he waved his hand in a circle. Dark purple clouds formed in the air and began swirling. The circle floated to the floor and opened up a glassy surface. From the glass, a huge crystal ball rose up in front of the princess. Her eyes widened as the crystal ball lit up a rosy call.

“Our new princess must welcome the new era when she touches the crystal ball!” the wizard announced. He turned to the new little princess.

“Now, my lady,” he said. “Please touch the crystal ball.” The little princess nodded and touched the heated glass. The pink light from her body disappeared into the white crystal ball. The lights danced around and burst out through the room. Everyone bowed before the princess as she levitated from the throne.

“Behold your new princess!” the wizard shouted. “Welcome to the new era!”

-Back in Reality-

“Kathy, Daddy’s home!” a woman yelled from down the hall. The little girl sat up on her light brown carpeted floor.

“Coming, mummy!” she shouted. Kathy jumped to her feet and ran out of her room.
