Metal Lock
Linworm Elementary School had the worst record in the school district. The
teachers didn’t know how to reign in their students and the parents didn’t care.
In fact, said parents blamed the teachers for not taking care of their children.
Many teachers left only after a day. The principal found himself at wit’s end.
It was time to call in the big guns.
One phone call later and the solution began.
He arrived at Linworm Elementary on the first day of school. At first glance, he
looked like a steel tank. He only held a book by his side. The little monsters
had their little faces pressed against the glass. They believed that he would be
new blood for them. The students even started to predict how long it would take
to break him. This new teacher walked into the main building and headed to the
office.
One signature later and the solution began.
8:15 a.m.
Classes were supposed to begin at this time. Instead, the students were running
around the halls and causing terror in the classrooms. The new teacher sat in
the principal’s office, counting down when to act.
Five… Four… Three… Two…
One!
The whole school went pitch black. The students and teachers froze. At first,
the little brats rejoiced at this sudden change in their day.
“Alright! The lights are out!” they cheered. The children ran out to the doors,
but to their dismay…
“It’s locked,” one student said as he tried to open the doors to the playground.
The devilish children went around the school, trying out different doors. Even
the classroom doors were locked. The little brats soon became confused.
What was going on?
“Good morning!” a voice crackled over the air. “I see you have all noticed that
you cannot leave. Oh, allow me to introduce myself. My name Mr. Parks. I will be
your new teacher for as long as it takes. Why are we all locked in the school?
Simple, we are beginning lesson one.” The students all looked at each other.
Lesson one? Who was this guy?
“We will be staying in until you complete your school work for the day,” Mr.
Parks said. “The longer you rebellion, the longer you will stay inside the
school. I can do this for days. How about you? You can complain all you want,
but you will be getting your schoolwork done for the day. I will be waiting you
from the monitors in the principal’s office. If one of you decides to act up, we
all will stay put in this school. If you want lunch, recess, and go home, you
know what you need to do. Good luck to you all.” The hallway erupted with roars
of displeasure. Who the hell did he think he was? How could they let him do
this? The students and teachers were all locked inside the school. And the power
was out too? The teachers themselves had doubts about this too. This was the
first time that they heard of this Mr. Parks. What was he thinking? The hellish
students didn’t know what to do and the teachers couldn’t move at first.
Finally, it took one teacher to pull out a stack of worksheets and pass them
around. Her hands shook as she took out the first sheet. The students sitting at
their desks stared at her with big eyes. When the worksheets were passed out,
one student took out a pencil and got to work.
By noon, the school was quiet and the students were head at work. In the
principal’s office, the principal turned to Mr. Parks.
“It’s working,” he said, gasping. The tank of a man leaned back in the chair
with a little smile on his face.
“Yes,” he said. “But this is only day one.” The tiny principal tilted his head
with a strange look on his face.
“Day one?” he asked.
“But of course,” Mr. Parks said. “Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know? This
school isn’t beyond saving, but it’s going to take plenty of work.” The
principal looked so confused.
“Okay…” he said. “I don’t understand it, but I’ll leave it in your hands.” Mr.
Parks smiled as he worked the little monsters working hard on day one of his
experiment.
