Pet Escape

On a dull summer day, two junior high students at Tokyo-Zion Academy decided to wreak chaos on the sleepy crowd. Everyone looked half-dead in the activity room. Jin frowned, shaking his head.

“This is depressing,” he muttered to himself. He turned and looked at his sister. “Ready to do this?” Ming stood beside him. Two little white mice ran around in the cage.

“Yes,” she said. Jin played with the lighter in his hand. They walked through the open doors. Jin grabbed a bottle of sake on the way. The siblings looked at each and smirked. Ming opened the cage and set the little mice free. Kellie was writing lyrics on her iPad when she happened to look up and notice the little rodents running freely.

“Oh shite!” she screamed. Everyone looked up as saw the mic running freely. Jin grinned as he poured the sake on the floor. He flicked on his lighter and tossed it on the puddle. He and his sister walked away as the flames began to spread.

“Get the fire!” some of the students shouted.

“Get the mice!” the other yelled. The siblings stood back and watched everyone run, scrambling to contain the fire or grabbing the mice. Ming shoved chocolate into her mouth.

“Hey, you were right,” she said. “This is working.”

“I told you,” Jin said. “Fire and animals will always make everything more interesting.”

“Want some?” Ming asked over the screams.

“Sure,” her brother said. He took a handful of chocolate and shoved it into his mouth. Inside, T.J. managed to catch one of the mice.

“Where’s the damn cage?” he asked.

“I don’t know!” Kellie yelled. The fire group managed to contain the fire before the mice could get hurt. Bemmer and Soot sat at the back of the room.

“Why would they do something like that?” Bemmer whispered. Soot only shrugged and shook his head.

Outside, Jin and Ming walked back to their dorm, giggling. They would’ve gotten away with it if they hadn’t run into Noiz in the hallway. She stood with an eyebrow raised.

“Care to explain what you were up to just now?” she asked. The siblings nervously chuckled to each other as they tried to come up with a plausible story. Noiz shook her head, frowning.
