Earth, Sun, Moon
Lily wasn’t the only one to greet the new neighbours. Phillip looked over her
shoulder.
“Who is that?” he asked.
“Huh?” Lily asked as she turned her head. A grey-blue van pulled up along the
road. The old biddy’s face lit up.
“Ah! It’s Annie from the Sunny Plum,” she said.
“Huh?” the man asked. Lily turned and waved at the van. Inside the house, the
woman rolled her eyes.
“Great,” she muttered to herself. “More people coming.” It didn’t look like she
was going to get any work done today.
“Serena!” she heard at the front door. The woman looked up.
“What?” she asked.
“Come look at this,” Phillip said. “Some of the neighbours brought us cake.”
Serena rolled her eyes before she forced herself to smile. Might as well get
this over with. The woman made her way to the front door.

Crush drove up to the house. Annie held onto anything she could grab.
“Slow down, Dustin!” she screamed.
“Sorry, auntie,” he said over the crunching on the ground. His aunt tried to
keep it together as they kept going down the road. Maybe it was a bad idea to
let her nephew drive. Then again, she couldn’t trust him with the cake in his
lap. Annie was determined to make a good first impression.
“Is that Ms. Lily up there?” Crusher asked.
“Huh?” Annie asked. She looked out onto the road. A confused look came over her
face. The old biddy stood in front of the house waving with a huge smile on her
face. Annie rolled her eyes.
“Oh boy…” she said.
“What?” Crusher asked.
“Never mind! Keep driving!” she shouted.
“Yes, auntie!” His foot slipped on the gas. Annie clenched her teeth and grabbed
on tighter.
“Carefully!” she shouted. The young man slowed down with his driving. Annie
could only breathe out when the van stopped.

William made his way down to the living room. He froze in his tracks as he fully
woke up.
“Oh…” he said. Liz and Clover locked eyes with him. Both of them were upset.
“Girls,” William said. “What are you doing here?”
“We came to see you,” Clover said.
“Who the hell is this?!” Liz asked, pointing at Bretha across from them. The
woman looked out of it as she stared at him. The old man’s face dropped.
“Oh…” He should’ve known this was coming. William rubbed the back of his head.
Where was he going to begin with this?
“It’s too early for this,” he mumbled to himself. The old man turned and walked
back down the hall.
“Come back here!” Liz barked.
---------
Lewis, Muriel, and Clyde peeked out from a bush across from the circle where the
new neighbours lived.
“See anything yet?” Clyde whispered.
“Uh-uh,” Lewis said.
“Why are we here again?” Muriel asked.
“Just because,” the farmer said.
“Just because?”
“Just because.”
“Shhh. There’s somethin’ happen’,” Clyde whispered. The old biddies quickly went
quiet and went back to watching the welcoming party unfold in front of them.
