Tango in the Night
Another year, same craziness. How could it not? This was the old biddies were
talking about here. They are going to cause trouble no matter where they go. But
what is this? Are there going to be some new people in the mix? If so, what will
they do? Would they stop them or would they join in? Come along and we shall
see.
“What are we doin’ today?” Clyde asked.
“I don’t know,” Muriel said. Lewis shrugged and shook her head. Their leader
wasn’t here yet. She hadn’t found them yet either. The tiro didn’t know how long
that was going to last. They counted their blessings for this nice, peaceful
moment.
“There you are!” someone shouted from up the hill. The trio froze. Oh no. How
did…
“How did she find us?” Muriel mouthed. Her friends
didn’t have any clue. Something inside of them told them not to turn around.
Don’t turn around. Don’t turn around. Don’t
turn around!
But wouldn’t you know it?
Muriel just had to lift her head to see Lily marching down the hill with a scowl
on her face. The other old biddy looked at her friends.
“You just had to look, didn’t you?” Lewis asked.
“Sorry…” Muriel said in a sheepish tone. Clyde cursed under her breath. Here
they go again.

Anything new happening in the Sunny Plum café? Well… Yes and no. Annie had just
hung up the phone in the back. She took in a breath and sighed. The plump woman
smacked herself in the cheeks and forced herself to smile. Annie turned and
walked into the café part of her home.
“Welcome, welcome!” she said aloud. His nephew was at the counter like she
trained him to. He turned his head.
“How is Uncle Tucker?” he asked. Annie lifted her chin.
“Fine,” she said. “He’s doing fine.”
“He’s still looking after Cousin Lou?”
“Yes.” Annie frowned when she looked at his appearance.
“Why aren’t you wearing your vest, Melvin?” the woman asked. The young man
groaned and threw back his head.
“I hate it, auntie!” the young man complained.
“Melvin, you know that it makes you look smart and sensible,” Annie said.
Crusher rolled his eyes.
“Auntie!” he complained.
“I’m serious,” she said. The two were about to devolve into another argument
when the bell above the door rang. Aunt and nephew sprang to work.

Liz and Clover walked up to William’s house. Even after all these years, they
still had to see him during the summer. Well, Liz did the summer. Clover was
more of every other day. Still, the women went out of their way to see their
uncle.
“Did you call ahead?” Clover asked.
“Nope,” Liz said. The younger sister frowned as she reached out and knocked on
the door. She wasn’t going to enjoy how her uncle was going to look
disappointed. Clover stepped back as the door slowly opened. The nieces looked
confused at who greeted them.
“Uh… Who are you?” Liz asked the woman with the long red hair to her shoulders.
The woman blinked as she stared at the nieces.
“Who are… you?” she asked back.

There are more players in this summer of chaos coming into this sleepy town.
Isn’t that always the case? However, there is something different this year. And
it would all start with a new neighbour.
