Electric Trap
Snap. Snap.
Snap.
Peter slowly
lifted his head. What… What is that? So much electricity. Sizzling filled the
air. Snap. Snap. Snap. Snap. Peter gulped.
“Not good,” Omi
said.
“Now what?” Cook
asked. They couldn’t turn back. They can’t go forward. Peter shivered.
“No…” he
mumbled. Snap. Snap. Snap. Snap. Cook bit his lower lip.
“Think we can
rush it?” he asked. A particle of dust hit a stream of electrical current. Zap.
Smoke floated in the air. The boys backed up in fear. Snap. Snap. Snap. Snap.
They were not
alone.
Peter froze. No…
Don’t tell me…
Don’t turn
around. Don’t turn around.
He closed his
eyes. “Guys, we’ve got company!” The boys froze.
“What?” Cook
asked. Footsteps. They were getting closer. What now? The boys looked at each
other.
“Let’s go!” Cook
shouted.
“But…” Peter
said.
“Book it!” his
friend yelled. They all hold hands.
“One. Two…” Omi
said. “Three!” This was it. Maybe they would make it? The run was going by so
fast. They didn’t look back. Run. That’s all they can do. No time to turn back.
Either get caught or get zapped. Neither option is good. Just run. Snap. Snap.
Snap. Snap. Peter’s ears began to ring. He tightly shut his eyes. There was some
yelling. The words weren’t clear. Tears leaked from his eyes. Hairs stood up on
his skin. I don’t want to die. I just want to go home. Were they close?
To the exit? To getting caught? He couldn’t tell.
Please don’t let
me die.
All Peter could do was keep running. Snap. Snap. Snap. Snap. There was so much
pressure building. Something had to give.
And then…
Silence.
Peter slowly opened his eyes.
