Round One
The game begins. Greed sets down the first card.
“We’ll go five rounds for this,” he said.
“Right…” Reily said. She laid down her card.
“Winner determines how many hands are won.” He paused in thought. “In fact,
let’s raise the stakes. You win, I let you go.” Greed looked over at Spencer.
“If I win, I get him,” he said.
“You will not,” Reily growled under her breath. Greed smiled as he laid down
another card.
“Well, you know what you need to do,” he said. She
said nothing as she threw down another card. Meanwhile, Spencer tried to keep it
together. He began breathing heavily. His heart thundered against his chest. The
poison was getting worse again. No… Don’t do
this to me. I don’t want to become a monster.
But you have no choice.
Spencer’s eyes darted around the room.
Not this again. Please leave me alone. Go away. Go
away!
No.
His body went stiff. Riley whipped her head around when she heard a gagging
noise.
“Quinn!” she shouted. She turned back to Greed.
“What did you do to him?!” she shouted. The man shrugged.
“Not my doing,” he said. “It’s the poison. Focus on the game.” Riley gritted her
teeth. She set down the card. Time to flip them over.
Three. Two. One.
Flip!
Winner: Greed

Melissa walked down the path. She came up to a wall of brush. She held up her
hand.
“What are you doing?” Spencer asked.
“Shhh!” she whispered. The thief moved her hand upward. The man closed his
mouth. Melissa lowered her hand.
“What are you doing?” Spencer asked.
“Shhh!” she whispered. The thief moved her hand upward. The man closed his
mouth. Melissa lowered her hand.
“Not here,” she said. The thief walked further down the path. Spencer looked
confused as she walked by.
“Huh?” he asked before running after her. They kept walking down the path.
Melissa knew why they were looking. Spencer? Not so much.
“Where are we going?” he asked.
“To find your sister,” Melissa said.
“And where is that?” he asked. The thief rolled her eyes. How was he this
stupid?
“I don’t know,” she said. Spencer made a face at her back. He was about to ask
when Melissa held up her hand.
“Shhh!” she said. Spencer froze.
“What?” he asked. The thief didn’t answer. She started looking around in the
air. Melissa took a listen in the air. Spencer started looking around too. What
was she doing?
“Ah!” Melissa shouted. Spencer jumped back.
“What?” he asked. She grabbed him by the waist. Before he could scream, they
vanished into thin air.

Greed: 2
Reily: 2
This was the last game. Greed put down his last card. Now, it was Reily’s turn.
She drew her last card. Meanwhile, he was waiting. Reily picked that up during
the third game.
“I don’t get it,” she said. Greed raised his eyebrow.
“Get what?” he asked.
“Why Spencer?” the girl asked. “Why not me?” Reily held her final card in her
hand. Greed held back a chuckle.
“We have plans for him,” he said.
“Plans?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he said, nodding. She knew where this was heading. No matter the
outcome, she still lost. She was going to lose from the start. They were going
to screw her over one way or another. Might as well get this over with.
Reily put down her final card. Here it was. Greed and Reily flipped over their
hands.
