The Gamble

“Hey! Hey!”

Natalia looked up to see the child floating in front of her. However, that wasn’t her voice.

Masayuki?

“I know where she is.”

You found her?

“Yes.” He paused.

But?

“But I don’t know how to get to her.”

Natalia frowned. Seriously?

“I’m not joking. Can’t you help me?” He sounded so desperate. The angel tried to think. Izumi looked over at her.

What’s up?

He’s found Baby’s soul.

Baby Doll looked up when she heard that. The news was enough to snap her out of her latest daze. She was about to speak when Yoshiko squeezed her hand. The angels looked at each other. Yoshiko whispered to her. Baby Doll closed her mouth. Izumi was staring at the child.

Why haven’t you brought her back?

“I don’t know how to get there.”

Really, dude?

“I just found out where she was. Cut me some slack!”

You don’t have much time!

“I know that! Why do you think I am here? I need to know how to get to her so I can bring her back and get out of here. You got any ideas?”

Izumi and Natalia went quiet as they tried to think of something. Now, it was Himeko’s turn to talk.

We could always use the Hail Mary method.

All of the other angels stared at her dumbfounded. Himeko shrugged her shoulders.

What?

Are you out of your mind? No one has ever pulled it off without anyone dying in the process!

I’m not hearing any other suggestions from you guys! And we’re running out of time, yes?

Well, yeah, but…

We don’t have a choice!

It’s too dangerous.

And I suppose you have any better ideas?

The other angels were quiet. Himeko snorted as she wrinkled her nose.

See?

The child stepped forward. “I’ll do it.” The angels all turned to her. Natalia slowly shook her head.

You can’t.

We don’t have a choice.

Shut up, Himeko!

The child put her hand to her chest. “Please!” Masayuki was really desperate but starting to fade away at the same time. The angels didn’t have a choice. Natalia bit her lower lip before she lifted her head.

Fine.

The child bowed her head. “Thank you.” Natalia and the other angels didn’t have a good feeling about this. But what choice did they have at this point? Things were about to get worse.
