Chapter Six: Teams G and H:

Team G

By now, high noon was coming. Sarah looked up at the sky.

“Can we go now?” Diamond complained.

“No,” Iris said again.

“I don’t want to be out here,” the Italian girl complained.

“We know!” Iris said again, rolling her eyes. Sarah tilted her head as she looked at the sky. Diamond groaned and threw back her head.

“This is so stupid!” she complained. “I want to go back to the house.” The poet gritted her teeth.

“We haven’t found the flower yet,” she said.

“Who cares?!” Diamond wailed, stamping her foot. “It’s too hot! There are bugs everywhere. And my skin is starting to itch! Are we even sure that this stupid flower exists?”

“There’s only one way to find out,” Iris said. The Italian girl wrinkled her nose.

“Fuck that!” she said. “I’m going back to the house now!” Diamond turned to leave. But then Iris grabbed her on the arm. The Italian girl tried to fight her off.

“Let me go!” she snapped. “Get off!”

“No!” Iris snapped. “You have been doing nothing but complaining during this whole hunt! You are so annoying! Don’t you ever shut the fuck up?!”

“How dare you!” Diamond screamed. She tried to hit the poet in the head. Iris ducked but refused to let go. The whole time, Sarah just stared at the sky. Only one word came out her mouth.

“North.”

She took off running. The other two girls looked up.

“Sarah?” Iris asked, running after her. Diamond groaned and rolled her eyes. Like she had a choice in the matter.

Team H

Noiz sat down on a stone bench. “Tell me again where it is.” T.J. gestured up towards the sky. The kitty looked up and narrowed her eyes.

“I don’t see it,” she said.

“You will in a moment,” he said. T.J. sat down next to the boss. Noiz looked at the sky. Meanwhile, Emerald looked around in the grass.

“You don’t have to do that, you know?” T.J. said. The Romanian woman turned her head.

“Why is that?” she asked. The Spanish man glanced up at the sky.

“What we are looking for is not in the flowers or the grass,” he said. Emerald gave him a funny look.

“It isn’t?” she asked.

“No,” T.J. said.

“Then… where is it?” Emerald asked.

“Come over and look with us,” he said. The woman walked over and sat next to him all with a confused look still on her face. She looked up at the sky.

“What am I looking at?” Emerald asked. Noiz looked along with him. T.J. pointed up to the thin clouds in the sky.

“There,” he said. The women looked for a good few seconds. Emerald covered her mouth.

“Oh…” she said. The Spanish man nodded.

“Exactly,” he said.

“What?” Noiz asked. She took a closer look. Her eyes widened when she finally saw it.

“Wow!” the kitty said. A slow clap filled the air. The team looked up to see Pat walking out from a patch of thick trees.

“Congratulations!” he said. “You did it! Well done! Well done!” The team gave him a confused look.

Five hours and ten minutes have passed in the hunt for the Butter Flower.
