Love Triangle

Don has two women who want him. Mami and Miyukizi made him chocolate this year. Honmei chocolate too. All made with love. But who are these women? Why do they like Do so much? They have their reasons.

-Mami-

She knows how she is.  Mami just wanted to be loved. She’s not been lucky in love. The problem was with her. Men thought she was nuts. And that was an understatement. She wanted to do better, but it was so hard. Don was trying with her, at least.

Don.

She remembered when they first met.

Mami had been dumped, again. This was what number now? She lost count. Her friends tried to humor her with her drama. Honestly, they were sick of it. Still, Mami needed a hug.

She was downtown on Valentine’s Day in 1993. Everyone had dates. She was just alone.

“I want to die,” Mami complained at the bar. She put up her hand.

“Bartender,” the woman shouted. “Get me another!” The bartender gave her a concerned look.

“Um… I think you had enough,” he said. Mami cut him a cold glare. The bartender drew his mouth closed.

“Coming up,” he said. The poor man got to work. Mami sat back and huffed.

“Are you okay?” someone asked. Mami whipped her head around. She must have looked like a demon. But then she paused. This man… whew! Tan skin, messy black hair, straight white teeth, and nice brown eyes. Mami’s cheeks turned pink.

“No,” she said. The man frowned.

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked. Mami broke down crying. The bartender stared at them with big eyes.

“It’s okay,” the man mouthed. The bartender slowly nodded once and set down the drink. Mami spent the crying and telling this stranger about her last break-up. He just sat there and listened. He never said a word. Mami felt better after talking. She took a breath.

“Thank you,” she said.

“Sure,” the man said. “I’m Don, by the way.” Mami stared at him for a moment.

“Mami,” she said. That was all it took.

-Miyukizi-

She’s worked with him for years. On was a good boss. Miyukizi stayed by his side. He praises her at the end of the day. She just wants to make him happy.

Lately, she noticed how she blushes around him. Her heart beat faster around him. Sometimes, she couldn’t think straight.

“Are you feeling okay?” Don asked yesterday. Miyukizi stared at him for a moment with red cheeks. She came to earth and cleared her throat.

“Yes, sir,” the secretary said. She tried to calm down. It’s so hard next to her boss.

Miyukizi had feelings for Don for two years. But she’s never confessed. There were a few reasons. He’s her boss and he was married at the time. But now he’s widowed. There might be a chance? She was going to try on Valentine’s Day.
