Watari was hard at work when he heard a knock on his door.

“Enter!” he said. The blonde shinigami looked up to see Tatsumi in the doorway.

“Oh good, you’re here,” he said. Please come in.” Tatsumi walked into the lab.

“What did you need?” he asked.

“Ah,” Watari said. “Come look at this.” Tatsumi walked over to the main table. He saw a giant flat screen on the surface.

“Here,” Watari said. Tatsumi gave the table an odd look.

“What am I looking at?” he asked.

“A portal,” the blonde scientist said. “I told you what Tsuzuki and Anna-san were doing, right?”

“Yeah…” Tatsumi said. “Wait a minute. Don’t tell me…” Watari nodded.

“Why didn’t you stop them?!” the secretary asked.

“You think they would?” the blonde scientist asked. “You know they won’t listen until they finished their mission.” Tatsumi sighed and rubbed his forehead.

“Damn it,” he said.

“Too late now,” Watari said. “Help me with this.” The secretary sighed and dropped his shoulders.

“Fine,” he said. “What do you need?” Watari held his hands over the screen.

“I am trying to get this weapon to Tsuzuki,” he said. Tatsumi looked at the table next to them.

“What… is that?” he asked.

“The answer to their problems,” Watari said. “I don’t have a name for it. There’s no time for it.” His colleague only blinked.

“Okay… What do we need to do?” he asked.

“Hold out your hands,” Watari said. Tatsumi held out his hands.

“Now close your eyes,” the blonde shinigami said.

“Seriously?” his colleague asked.

“Jus do it,” the scientist said. Tatsumi rolled his eyes.

“Fine,” he said. The secretary closed his eyes. Watari closed his eyes.

“Now picture Tsuzuki in your mind,” he said. There came a pause.

“Are you doing it?” Watari asked.

“Yes,” the other shinigami said. “Keep focusing.”

“Okay,” the kagetsukai said. The men placed their focus on Tsuzuki’s image. It came through blurry at first.

Come to us, Tsuzuki, Watari thought. Come to us. Come to us! Tsuzuki’s image came in a bright blast. They saw him on the screen. The men stepped back. The room started to vibrate. Temperature began rising.

“Quick!” Watari yelled. “Help me get the weapon to the screen!”

“Right!” Tatsumi said. The shinigami rushed to the table on the side.

“Careful,” Watari said. “Don’t break it. It took me hours to make this.” He and Tatsumi picked up the weapon.

“Life! One, two three!” the blonde scientist said. The men carried it to the table. Step by step. Step by step. Step by step.

“Ready?” Watari asked. Tatsumi gave him a quick nod.

“One… Two… Three!” the blonde scientist said. They set down the weapon on the table. In a flash, it vanished into this air. Watari and Tatsumi shielded their eyes. The room went still. The normal temperature returned. The secretary turned to the blonde scientist.

“Now what?” he asked. Watari shrugged.

“We wait,” he said. The shinigami turned back to the table. Watari moved his hand to his chest. I hope this works…
