Gossip Cupid
-Day Two-
Ivy was looking for some juicy details on Charm Inu and Lady Dragon. Some band
members were dating. (Okay, it was one couple. But still…) Ivy needed more.
Chance would get her what she wanted.
So far, Namiko had been taking notes. Patience was key for this job. Now, it was
time to make a move. First some coffee.
The hotel didn’t have the best coffee. But it would have to do. Namiko sat near
the window. The warmth made her smile. She began to think. Isao would be easier
to approach. Mai could sniff out her plan in a moment. Isao probably could too.
She would have to be careful.
Ivy walked up to the counter. The barista perked up.
“Good morning! What can I get you today?” she asked. Ivy lowered her shades.
“Just a cup of black coffee, please?” she asked.
“Yes, ma’am,” the barista said. She got right to work. Ivy looked around for a
place to sit.
Namiko pulled out her phone. Let’s see. The next show should take place this
noon. She would have to try and catch Isao in a small window. The key is to
figure out what to say in that short amount of time.
“Excuse me. Is this seat taken?” a woman asked. Namiko looked up. A woman in a
white pantsuit stood across from her.
“Um… no,” Namiko said.
“Nice,” the woman said. She moved to pick up the chair. But then paused when she
looked down at the table.
“Charm Inu fan, huh?” she asked.
“Hm? Oh. Not really. It’s for an assignment,” Namiko said. The woman raised her
eyebrow.
“Assignment? What is it? Are you allowed to say?” she asked. Namiko looked
around for a moment.
“I’m a matchmaker,” she said. The woman whistled.
“You mean…?” she began to asked. Namiko nodded once. Now the woman was
intrigued. She sat down in front of her.
“I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Ivy. Are you are?” she said.
“Namiko,” the matchmaker said. Ivy held out her hand. Namiko blinked as she
shook it. The other woman grinned.
“So, who’s the lucky person?” she asked.
“Person?” the matchmaker asked.
“Don’t you know? Isao swings both ways. He’s been with a man for six years.
Quite the dream couple. Too bad it didn’t last,” Ivy said. It took Namiko a
moment to get it.
“Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,” she said. “I forgot about that.”
“So… who is it?” Ivy asked. The other woman grinned.
“Mai,” she said. The editor whistled.
“Wow,” she said. “Tell me more.” Namiko blinked. Who was this woman? Ivy took a
sip of her coffee. Oh yes. This was it. Now to chase this down to the end.
