Little White Lie
One little lie could blow everything our of portion. Shinta is finding out fast
with his little groupie. Okay, let’s back up first. It felt nice to have an
admirer for a change. It was almost a bit creepy. His bandmates thought so.
Shinta didn’t care. This girl would be their ticket.
“So what’s your name again?” he asked. She stared at him in a dreamy way.
“Rumi,” she said.
“Right,” he said. She was a bit creepy. Still, he saw potential. Rumi smiled.
“Do you party on the road?” she asked. Shinta looked over at her. She had the
eyes of a child.
“Yeah,” he said, nodding. “Crazy parties. So much booze and drugs. The fans love
it.” An obvious lie. Not like she would take him seriously, right? Rumi’s eyes
began to twinkle.
“Wow!” she said. Shinta froze. Wait… She wasn’t really buying it, was she?
Shinta didn’t know what to make of this.
“Yeah,” he said. “We would get laid every night.” Rumi frowned a bit.
“Oh…” she said. He put up his hand.
“Don’t worry. That’s a joke,” he said. “That rarely happens.” Rumi relaxed.
Okay… This could be interesting.
Meanwhile, Snow and Kenta looked at each other.
“What is he doing?” Snow asked. Kenta shrugged and shook his head. Both had a
bad feeling about this. Rumi was just that creepy. She had to go. But she was
their only groupie. The men frowned. Shinta did all of the talking while she
listened enraptured.
The vocalist didn’t stop talking. Some were lies. Some were half-truths. Shina
just felt super important.
Then she took things too far.
Rumi stood up.
“We should have a wild party with the fans!” she said. The girl pumped her fist
in the air while laughing.
“You know what?” We should,” Shinta said. His bandmates looked at each other.
What the hell was this? Shinta and Rumi took each other by the hands and
laughed. Neither one could see this was a bad idea until it was too late. Why
didn’t anyone stop them there? Why? Just why? Well…
Shinta sat down, laughing.
