Masochist Tango:
I can’t escape from him that easily. Kaoru has managed to find me in my dreams. I sat on the bed waiting for him tonight. Come on, I know you have been waiting for me. Why won’t you show your face now?
I trained my ears down the hall when I heard footsteps coming to the door. I braced myself for another fight with that bastard.
“Oh, you’re still up?” I heard someone ask. I looked up to see manager peeking in the door. A puzzled look came over his face.
“I’m sorry, were you expecting somebody tonight?” he asked.
“You could say that,” I smoothed over, “What are you doing up?”
“I left my tax record in the house,” he said, “I have to turn it in tomorrow morning.” I nodded at him in understanding.
“I see,” I replied.
“Excuse me,” the manager said as he bowed his head. I watched as he disappeared from the doorway. Okay, not the person I expected, but Kaoru will be here. I have known him long enough to not disappoint me.
Once the manager was gone, the real waiting began. I clutched my sheets below. I will not show fear. I will face him and stand down! He will not have me! My ears perked up when I heard footsteps coming towards my room. I know that’s him this time! Come on, you bastard! Come here and face me! My eyes focused on the door as it opened wide.
“Waiting long?” I heard him ask.
“No, actually,” I said. Kaoru moved into the room and closed the door behind him. I raised an eyebrow at him.
“Why are you so interested in me?” I asked.
“Does there have to be reason?” he asked. I nodded at him.
“I would like one,” I responded.
“There really isn’t one,” Kaoru said before walking over to the bed.
“Stop,” I commanded, “That’s far as you come to me.” The vampire froze in his tracks.
“Oh?” he asked. I shook my head.
“Just don’t come near me,” I said. Kaoru raised an eyebrow at me.
“That’s not what you were saying last night,” he said.
“Stop it!” I barked, “Just stop.” He put up his hands in shrug.
“Thank you,” I said in one breath. He gave me a small smirk.
“So why did you wait up for me?” he asked.
“Because I knew you would come here,” I said, “I only want to say this to you.” Kaoru started to move forward, but I held up my hand to stop him.
“What?” he asked. I prepared for my strongest blow.
“Stay away from my friends and family!” I shouted. He didn’t speak and that forced me to keep talking. “They have nothing to do with this,” I said, “So just leave them and me alone, please!”
“I will,” Kaoru replied, “Only if you come away with me.”
“I can’t do that.”
I saw red flash in his eyes. “Then, I will make you come with me.”
“Stay away from the ones I love!”
“Oh, I can’t promise you that, my dear.”
“Then I will fight you by any means that I can.”
Kaoru folded his arms across his chest. “You really think so?”
“Yes!” I said with a sharp nod. Kaoru bowed his head with a cold leer on his face.
“Very well,” he said, “But I will have you!” He disappeared through my door back into the darkness. I clutched onto the sheets on the bed.
I will be ready to fight back!, I thought as I gritted my teeth, I will fight you with all of my being!
