Miike
He has always
been an odd child. That was probably why he didn’t have many friends. Well,
there was one person he could kind of call a friend. Speaking of which…
“You alright?”
The boy turned
his head. She broke into a huge grin. He blinked at her for a second.
“Huh?” he asked.
The little girl stared at him with a small frown.
“You’re doing it
again,” she whispered. Miike stared blankly at her.
“Doing what?” he
asked. The little girl narrowed her eyes.
“Staring off
into space. You’re never here on earth with us,” she said.
“I’m not?”
“No!” The little
girl’s frown deepened. Miike nervously laughed.
“Sorry,” he said
in a sheepish tone. They had a strange friendship. It was she who approached
him. Her mother left at the same time that his did. She wasn’t angry about it.
The child carried on like this was
normal. Miike, on the other hand, didn’t take it so well.
The little girl
shook her head. “What am I going to do with you?” The boy just stared at her
with no expression on his face.
“Kids, it’s time
to come in!” their teacher shouted at the doorway of the school. The little girl
grabbed Miike by the sleeve.
“Let’s go!” she
said. The poor boy did his best to keep up with her as they ran.
-----------
Miike didn’t
know what to make of her. It’s been the two of them together since the beginning
of the school year. He had been so used to being alone in his head. He didn’t
have to talk to anyone. It was just him and his thoughts. The little girl with
strawberry blonde hair wouldn’t let him do it while they were at school. She
kept pushing herself into his bubble. Miike wasn’t too fond of her brash
approach. What the hell did she want with him?
“Why do you hang
around me all the time?” he asked one day. The little girl shrugged.
“Because you let
me,” she said. Miike gave her a blank stare. She broke into a huge grin after
she said that. She even tried to talk to him during class. Miike didn’t know why
he didn’t just throw the notes from her away at the end of the day.
What he didn’t
know was that this little girl would be the one to help him save their world.
For now, he does not know that.
In class, Miike
was watching the teacher write on the board. It looked like the numbers and
Kanji were swimming around as she wrote. The boy blinked. Hm? That’s never done
that before. What was going on?
Come with us! We
need you to stop him!
And then his mind went blank.
