Outside of the Storm

What’s been going on outside of the angel’s apartment? Not much has been going on. The storm has already passed, in truth. In fact, everyone was starting to clean up. The damage wasn’t too bad. Everything was slowly returning to normal.

Well, almost.

Some people are picking up that something isn’t right. The apartment building looks trapped in fog from the outside. A couple walked by the building and stopped for a look. Despite it being a clear day, a dense fog covered the building. The girl tilted her head.

“Do you see what I am looking at?” she asked. The boy next to her nodded as he held a toddler girl in his arms.

“What is that?” the woman about nineteen asked.

“I have no idea,” her boyfriend(?) said. The girl looked over and noticed the gate was unlocked.

“Look!” she said. Her boyfriend looked up just as she ran up to the gate.

“Nancy!” he said. She already ran through the gate. The young man ran after her. The little girl whimpered in discomfort in his grasp. He caught up in time and grabbed Nancy by the arm. She whipped her head around.

“What are you doing?” the young man asked. “Are you out of your mind?” Nancy had a blank expression on her face as she shook her head.

“I’m sorry,” she said. “I just…” Nancy turned to the apartment. She felt herself walking closer to the building. Her boyfriend(?) was the only thing keeping her in place.

“Can’t you hear that?” she asked.

“Hear what?” the young man asked. Nancy slowly pointed up to the building. Haru looked up at the fog swirling around apartment. A little bit closer made it look like a set for a horror movie.

“Maybe… we should go back,” the young man spoke up.

“Good idea,” Nancy said, nodding. Yeah, that really did sound like a good idea. But why weren’t they walking away?
