Piling Up
Natalia and
Izumi looked around.
“This just keeps
getting better, doesn’t it?” Izumi asked. The older angel looked at her,
wrinkling her nose. Izumi shrugged.
“I’m trying
here,” she said.
“Now what?”
Yoshiko asked.
“What else?”
Izumi asked. “Get everyone back.”
“And how are we
going to do that?” Himeko asked. “We can’t send anyone else inside.”
“No!” the other
angels shouted. Himeko put up her hands.
“Okay, okay!
Geez,” she said. Izumi sighed.
“In any case,
where do you guys want to start?” she asked. The angels didn’t have an answer.
Natalia looked over her shoulder.
“You okay back
there?” she asked. Baby Doll lifted her chin.
“I’m fine,” she
said. The angel walked over to her roommate. Liz made a face before turned back
to Natalia.
“You sure this
is a good idea?” she asked. “I mean, Baby’s still not fully herself.” Natalia
pushed her bangs from her forehead.
“We don’t have
much of a choice anymore,” she said. “Look, the longer we stall with this, the
less likely we will get them all out. So we have to act fast. Got it?” The other
angels didn’t respond at first.
“Got it?”
Natalia asked again.
“Yes!” her
roommates said. Natalia took a breath.
“Right,” she
said. The angel held out her hands. “Hold hands.” The angels all took each
other’s hands. Natalia wasn’t sure that this was going to work properly, but
they were almost out of options at this point. She was just going to have to
remember everything off the bat and hope for the best.
“Close your eyes
and focus your energy on everyone in the room,” Natalia said. One by one, the
angels all closed their eyes. Natalia closed her eyes and began to chant another
spell. The air in the room suddenly became warm before dropping to cold.
“Don’t let up no
matter what!” Natalia said.
“Right!” the other angels said back. The energy in the room grew thicker before everyone got covered in a powdery white mist.
