Chapter Eighteen: Stupid Love:
It was a love story of sorts.
Ben saw her and wanted her. Most of the
outside saw it for and would think for the obvious reasons. But, he wasn’t like
that. The staff at the academy still couldn’t figure it out.
Ben was a simple guy. He just wanted someone
to fall in love with. For some reason, he found it in her. Why? At first, he
asked himself the same question. He claimed up and down that it was fate. Too
bad, the guy had a hard time convincing people otherwise.
Even the bride didn’t know what she saw in
him. She seemed to be hanging around him just to humor him. The bride looked so
awkward around Ben. She tried to laugh off what she was feeling. However, the
staff saw through her mask.
It didn’t make sense that she and Ben were
together. It just happened and everyone thought that this would pass. The
awkward, nerdy guy didn’t have a stellar record with the ladies. Most the girls
either ignored him or flat out rejected him. It was a shock to the staff that he
showed up with the bride as his girlfriend. Thus beginning the questions of how
and why this occurred.
Ben wasn’t handsome or rich. He was just a
goofy-looking guy. He didn’t know how to express himself with words. The guy
almost tripped over his own two feet. He looked more comfortable back in his
apartment than in a public place. So… why him with her?
The staff all had their theories, none of
which could work in this case. It couldn’t be money. Ben was almost always flat
broke. He wasn’t that attractive either. Plus, the guy didn’t have any other
redeeming qualities that would make him “datable”. The questions applied to why
he dated her. Most would assume it was because of her boobs. But, Ben doesn’t
really care about that type of thing. He would have been happy to any girl
talking to him like a person. Some of the staff came to accept the relationship.
Hey, it didn’t matter as long as Ben was happy. However, eyebrows were raised
when he decided that he and the bride were getting married.
Everyone had their doubts that this would
come through. Some hoped that it would, but didn’t think it would last long.
Deep down inside, they all just wanted Ben to be happy. Now… the bride’s gone
missing. The staff couldn’t say they were surprised. Still, they wondered where
she had gone. A few of the staff promised Ben to bring her back in time for the
wedding.
Right now, that doesn’t look like a
possibility as the day wears on. Still, they all are doing it just to keep Ben
happy. Some of the guys want to knock the crap out of him when this is all over.
The ladies will be happy to turn a blind eye when/if they do. But first, they
had to find that bride, if they could…
Meanwhile, back on the rather pointless mission…
