Book V: Yayoi and Ami
Chapter
Seventy-Four: Ami:
I messed up
again. This was worse than with Bayu and Madonna. I ended up in a relationship
with two women. How did this happen? This is going to be a long and complicated
story. But I am still going to tell anyway.
I met Ami first.
She was an angel. Yes, I fell in love with another angel. Rest assured this
would be the last angel I would fall in love with. I didn’t “kidnap” her like I
did the last time. (I didn’t kidnap any of them. I was in love with them. Well,
with one of them. I’m getting off track here.) I met her in the fifties. The
living realm was changing. The people danced towards the future. By that time, I
had gotten better control of my kingdom. Judith backed off to be my right -hand
woman. Everything was going great in the kingdom.
The problem was
that I was bored—again. Mostly lonely. One day, I just set down my pen. Judith
looked up when she heard me sighing.
“Something
wrong, my lord?” she asked. I stood up from my desk.
“I’m heading
out,” I said.
“Huh?” Judith
asked. “Where are you going?” I waved her off and walked out of my office.
When was the
last time I was alone? It’s been so long. I rubbed my forehead. I was lonely but
wanted to get away from my subjects. It felt like I was being choked. They don’t
really care about me. Judith just wanted to run everything. I shook my head. I
couldn’t think about the kingdom right now. I just didn’t want to think anymore.
I sighed and
dropped my shoulders.
“What do I
want?” I asked aloud. I looked up at the sky. What was going on in the living
realm? I closed my eyes and disappeared into thin air.
----------
It’s been so
long since I first came back here. The living realm looked so different from
when I first met Madonna. There was now a road that led to the forest. There
were now cars driving around. The people were wearing modern clothes for that
period. I didn’t know what to think about this. I think I was in London in the
1950’s. Yeah, that had to be it.
I wandered down
into town. I didn’t have any plans at the time. I just decided to walk around
town until I was dragged back to work. They were probably looking for me
already.
I paused when I
saw her.
She looked lost
at the time. The first thing I noticed about her was her bright pink dress. The
skirt covered her knees. She looked at a watch and looked around. Her dark brown
hair came down to her shoulders. Was it possible for a woman to look so pale?
Before I knew
it, I found myself walking over to her.
“Excuse me!” I
said. The woman paused and looked up at me. I held out my hand as I got closer.
“You looked a
little bit lost,” I said. “Can I help you with anything?” This woman blinked at
me for a moment. Her eyes were so green. I cleared my throat.
“Are you okay,
miss?” I asked.
“Uh… yeah,
yeah,” she said. “I seem to be a bit lost.” She nervously laughed.
“Where are you
trying to go?” I asked.
“This address
right here,” the woman said. She handed me a sheet of paper. It looked like a
flower shop. Hey, I know where that is.
“No problem,” I
said. I showed her where to see needed to go. The woman listened intently. She
looked so cute with her face in concentration.
“You got that?”
I asked. She quickly nodded.
“Yeah!” she
said. “Thank you so much.” The woman took off in the direction I pointed her in.
For some reason, I just couldn’t let her go.
“Wait!” I said.
The woman turned around. I lifted my chin.
“Can I see you
again?” I asked.
“Why?” she
asked.
“I don’t know,”
I said. She turned and ran off. I could pursue her if I wanted. Something told
me that wasn’t a good idea. So I turned and returned to my kingdom.
It should’ve been the end of that encounter. Oh no. Things were about to get worse.
