IV: Planning the Escape
The rain poured
outside of the prison.
The prince
stared out his window as he planned his escape.
The rain and the
iron fence kept everyone in.
A promise was a
promise.
He had to return
to his mother.
No one had ever
escape prison and lived.
That did little
to detour him.
“You can’t do
it, you know.”
“I have to try.”
“Good luck with
that, pal.”
“I made a
promise to someone.”
“Some
girlfriend?”
“No.”
“Your mother?”
“Yes.”
“I pity her.”
“Don’t be,
because I have to make it back.”
“And how do you
plan to do that?”
“I am working on
that.”
The prince spent
all night and the morning planning
His escape.
The other
prisoners saw it as hopeless.
It still stunned
them that he wouldn’t give up.
Who was this
man?
Did he know that
he was sentenced to die?
What was the
point of him doing this?
“You’re wasting
your time.”
“You’re going to
be dead.”
“There is no
escaping from here.”
The prince
didn’t listen.
In fact, their
negativity became his motivation.
He worked
through each possible exit.
Some he found
through the impossible.
On the day
before his execution,
The other
prisoners came to his aid.
They started
giving him advice.
Not bad advice
either.
They seemed dead
serious about helping him.
At first, the
prince didn’t get it.
“I thought you
said I couldn’t do it.”
“I think you
might be able to do it.”
“Be a hero for
us.”
The prince
smiled and resumed his plans.
He and prisoners
worked through the last night.
The guards knew
what they were during, but they didn’t do anything
To stop it.
They thought it
was impossible, but it was sure entertaining to watch.
Will this plan
work or fail?
The answer would be revealed come morning of the execution.
