Chapter Nine:
Resting with Doubt:
Now, there are
several misconceptions about how I fell from grace. There was no hostile take
over with Father and home. Or rather my former home. I didn’t bow to man, not
because of pride. I am not evil. Granted, I will admit that some of the events
that took place happened because of my doing. But, the whole thing’s been blown
out of proportion. I don’t blame Father though. It’s the humans who are the ones
who cast me as the bad guy. They will take his words and twist to their beliefs.
We have nothing to do with the shit that they say. And don’t get me started on
the things they blame on me.
Anyway, I
digress.
I voiced my
complaints to my dear Bayu.
“What was he
thinking?” I asked. “How could he create something like that?”
“Why don’t you
like it?” Bayu asked in my bed. I shrugged as I shook my head with her in my
arms.
“I don’t know,”
I said. I sighed as I looked down at her. “It’s hard for me to say. Something is
telling me that this is a bad idea.”
“Why do you say
that?”
“I can’t explain
it. Just, please… Go with me on this.”
“Okay, let’s say
that you are right. What do you want to do about it?”
“Uh, well…” What
did I want to do about this problem? I had been so upset that I hadn’t thought
of anything else. Bayu looked up at me with those big eyes of hers.
“Maybe… This
worry isn’t what you think,” she said. I shook my head.
“I wish it could
be just that,” I said. Bayu squeezed my waist.
“Whatever you
decide to do,” she said. “I will support you no matter what.” Turns out, I
wasn’t the only one with doubts on this new creature called man.
--------
They all came to
me. I didn’t lead any of them astray. The first one made me feel a little bit
better that somebody agreed with me. The second one made feel like I could get a
point across. Both angels asked me the same question that Bayu did.
“What do you
plan to do about it?” they asked.
“I will get back
to you on that,” I told them. I didn’t really have much of a plan going on at
the time. That didn’t stop them from coming to me. Before long, about a third of
heaven came to me with doubts about this creature called man. I do not know how
this all got out of hand. I couldn’t back out then. The whole time, I had to put
on a brave face while I figured out the next move.
Yes, I admit
that I didn’t have a clue about what to do. I would be lying if I said I did.
Bayu noticed the group gathering before me.
“I don’t know
about this,” she told me in the mess hall.
“I don’t
either,” I admitted. She turned her head with big eyes.
“What are you
going to do if they find out?” my love asked. My eyes shifted back and forth as
I nervously chuckled.
“I have no
idea…” I said. Bayu threw back her head and groaned.
“Lucifer!” she
complained.
“Okay, okay,” I
said, putting up my hands. “I will sort it out. I promise.” My love didn’t look
so convinced.
“Look, I
promise,” I said. “Have I let you down?” Bayu slowly shook her head. I held her
hands.
“I will do my best to make this all better,” I promised her. “Come here.” I pulled her into my arms. What I didn’t realized, Father had the same idea. Only, his took on a different plan…
