Building Up Pieces

There’s so much following him. He’s trying to track him down with his demons. But there is something else following him. And it doesn’t want him here. The child knows this and has to get him on his way before it’s too late.

Masayuki didn’t dare look behind him. Something told him not to do it. He just had to keep moving forward. He gave up on asking questions at this point. The child didn’t turn around either. She marched with a mission. The howling in the background didn’t bother her.

He, on the other hand, not so much. However, he chose not to express this.

Don’t be afraid.

Masayuki stiffened up. His eyes were on the child’s back.

They can smell your fear. We can’t have any attention drawn on us. All you can do is keeping moving, don’t turn around, and stay calm.

He didn’t argue. The boy just had to follow close behind and see where this was heading. The howling came out loud again.

They can see them. They can see them but they can’t get close. The scent was strong before and now it had turned faint. Still, they were not going to give up. They were not supposed to be there. He wasn’t supposed to be here. This would not do. They were going to have to fix it.

Time meant nothing to them. They could wait and hunt down the interlopers. They have been doing this job even before creation. They were going to have to cut the intruders in the front.

Meanwhile, the child could see where this was heading.

When I say three, we’re going to run.

“What?” he asked.

One… Two… Three!

The boy fought hard to keep up with the child. It didn’t feel like he was standing on the ground anymore. He was floating now. The boy held his breath. The child wasn’t on the ground either. They started flying higher. The child still wouldn’t turn around.

How well do you trust me?

Masayuki pressed his lips together. “A lot.”

Good.

Suddenly, they stopped. He was about to ask what the child was doing but his question died on his tongue when the figure broke down into small blue lights. The small dots flew into his chest. Masayuki stretched out his arms and legs before he vanished into thin air.

Ben whipped his head around when he heard a loud gasp. Jules had just woken up and took a breath. She turned to her boyfriend. Ben gave her a little smile.

“Welcome back,” he whispered. The woman gave him a confused look.

“What just happened?” she asked. “What was that?” Ben rested his hand on hers.

“I don’t know myself,” he whispered.

“Quiet!” Natalia hissed. The couple quickly closed their mouths. They couldn’t move from where they were sitting. Ben held onto Jules’ hand the whole time. She didn’t try to push him off. Meanwhile, the angels still had to hold on with their circle. However, they were about to run into another problem inside and outside.
