Chapter Twenty-Five: Confusing Love Box:

Wallace didn’t know it, but he had three other girls that fancied him. (This wasn’t counting Professor Liz of course.) He’s only met one of them once before he had to leave. The other two haven’t met him but they will soon.

Leslie looked like an average plain Jane. This didn’t get her down. She looked the way she looked. Leslie had other things on her mind besides looks. She liked books, theater, and politics. Leslie didn’t really have time for romance. But when she fell in love, she fell hard. Leslie believes that the one will find her. For now, she is focused on school.

Now, she believes that one has found her. But does he know that he is the one?

Ever since she saw that country boy looking confused in the library, it was love at first sight. For her at least.

She didn’t know much about him after seeing him. That wasn’t much of a problem for her. Leslie knew how to keep her ear to the ground. That’s how see knew about most of the student body. She needed the connects to get around school after all. Apparently, Wallace and Julia used to go to the same school together. The classical nerd saw her point of entry. First, she would get to know Julia and then work her way towards Wallace.

Leslie managed to get enough information on her target. Julia was in her political debate group. This was just too easy. Leslie bid her time until she could get Julia alone. The perfect time was in the morning.

“Hey,” Leslie said, waving as Julia walked into the classroom. The leading actress gave her an odd look.

“Hello?” she asked. Leslie rested her hand under her cheek.

“Are you free this afternoon?” she asked. Julia gave her a strange look.

“Why?” she asked. Leslie gave her a little smile.

“I have a speech that I am giving to a class tomorrow,” she said. “I just need someone to hear it before I am sure that I am ready.” There it is. Keep it simple and realistic.

“Sure,” Julia said. “I will have to see if I am free.” Leslie broke into a huge grin. She had got her. Now to take the next steps that she needed to win Wallace’s heart.

Morgan worked for the campus radio station. She too kept her ears to the ground. One particular boy had her attention. Now, Morgan didn’t go for the country boys. But something about Wallace had her interest peeked.

“Hey Morgan,” one of her station friends said.

“Hm?” the DJ asked.

“Did you know that farmers have the most sex?” she asked. Morgan turned her head.

“Is that right?” she asked.

“Says so in this article,” her friend said.

“I don’t blame them,” a third girl said. “They’re hot and sweaty. Plus, all that work makes them buff.” She had to swallow back his drool. Morgan rolled her eyes and shook her head.

“Plus, they need all of kids for helping with farm work,” one of the managers said. Morgan turned back to her friend.

“Who is the least?” she asked. The friend with her dark pixie cut looked up at her, frowning.

“Journalists,” she said. Morgan frowned.

“That can’t be right,” she said. Her friend showed her the article on her phone. The DJ’s cheeks puffed up when she read the screen.

“Bullshit,” she muttered.

“Sorry,” her friend said, shrugging. Morgan didn’t enjoy this. She put her hands on her hips.

“Well then, we’ll have to prove them wrong,” she said. Everyone in the room looked up at her. Morgan wasn’t going to walk back her words.

“How are you going to do that?” the manager asked with a puzzled look on his face. The DJ puffed out her chest.

“Isn’t it obvious?” she asked.

“But with whom?” her friend asked. Morgan forced herself to grin.

“I will find somebody,” she said. Her crew didn’t look so convinced about this dubious mission. However, they knew they couldn’t talk her out of this plan. Once Morgan had her mind set on something, there was no way to change course. And she had the perfect person in mind for her little experiment.

Blare didn’t get much notice on her. Why would she? She was just an extra in the upcoming play. They just stood in the background and looked pretty. The audience only comes for the stars. No one pays attention to the extras. That’s how much of her teenage years went.

But then, one boy changed all of that.

Wallace is an extra too. Blare saw him and cupid struck her with his arrow. It didn’t take much for her to develop a crush on him. For days, she tried to gather up her courage to talk to him. Sadly, something always got in the way. Rehearsal, her own nerves, too many people, school schedules, and list of other things. Still, Blare wouldn’t give up. Wallace pushed her to be more of her true self. Starting with her looks matching the inside. She didn’t really feel like a girl at all. She didn’t feel like a boy either. Blare was just a person. Maybe Wallace could help free herself with love. If only she could try and talk to him first.

Four girls in Wallace’s world. He only notices one. Let’s see what happens next.
