Now, Lewis didn’t hate her niece. She did care about her. It was just… How did she put it? Hm…

“I just want my space back!” the farmer complained.

“Well, I’m sorry for coming here,” Kat said, rolling her eyes. Her aunt just looked over at her. They were at an impasse. Lewis rolled her eyes.

“Do you know what you are going to do?” she asked. Kat shook her head. Of course she didn’t. Why wasn’t Lewis surprised?

“Look, I’m not having you and a baby too,” she said.

“Trust me, I don’t want to stay here either,” Kat said. Both women frowned. And therein lies the problem. How were they going to fix this?

“Anything changed?” Lily asked. The farmer shook her head.

“No,” she said. She leaned back on her bench and sighed.

“So, what are ya gonna do?” Clyde asked. “Ow!”

“Why can’t you just speak properly?” Lily asked through clenched teeth. The dirty old biddy stuck out her tongue. Lewis rubbed the bridge of her nose.

“That’s where we’re stuck,” she said. Muriel didn’t say anything, but she already felt her misery. She too didn’t know what to do with her two grown children living with her for the time being.

Something had to give.

The hot chocolate machine became quite popular. However, there were some that she had few questions.

“Auntie, why do we need this?” Crusher asked.

“Because,” Annie said. “Just thought it would be nice.”

“But it’s summer,” he complained.

“I know that,” she said. “I just thought it would be nice.” The young man didn’t bother to complain. It was his aunt’s choice, after all. He was just there for the ride. She looked so happy right now. But still…

Annie turned her head. “Hm?” Crusher stared at her with big eyes. Had he said something out of turn that he shouldn’t have? Oh no…

“Huh?” the big boy asked. Aunt and nephew stared at each other for a long moment. Okay, this was starting to get awkward. Annie cocked her head to the side.

“Did you say something?” she asked. Crusher quickly shook his head.

“No!” he blurted out. “I didn’t say anything! I swear!” Annie raised her eyebrow, but said nothing. Crusher held his breath as his heart began racing. His aunt shrugged and went back to polishing the hot chocolate machine. Crusher breathed out when her back was turned. The boy stood there, blinking.

What just happened?

“Auntie!” Kat wailed from her room. The farmer threw back her head and groaned. What was it now?

“Yeah?” she asked.

“I think I’m going to be sick!” Kat complained. Oh boy, here they go again. How bad would it back this time? Lewis took a deep breath to calm herself down.

“Coming!” she shouted. The farmer pushed herself to her feet and dragged herself down the hall. How many times had they have to do this? Lewis shook her head.

“I’m going to have to take that girl to the doctor,” she said to herself. Lewis found Kat huddled over the toilet, throwing up. She walked in and rubbed the mother-to-be on the back.

“There, there,” she whispered. Kat threw up again. Lewis grimaced. This couldn’t keep going. She needed a way to fix this and fast. However, that might not be so easy.
