Chapter Four:
Face Reality:
“You know what
we have to do,” Tsuzuki said.
“Yes,” Anna
said, nodding.
“Are you okay
with this?”
“Yes.”
He put his arm
around her shoulders. “It will be okay.”
“Will it?” She
has a point. Tsuzuki kissed her on the cheek.
“I am pretty
sure. I mean, we’ve come all this way. Are you going to quit now?”
Anna shook her
head. “I’m just cautious.”
“Of course you
are. That’s what I like about you and Hisoka.”
“Thanks.”
“I mean it. I
really do.”
“I know. How
many days again?”
“Three, my
love.” He saw the look on her face. “What?”
Anna shook her
head. “It’s just…”
“I know. Hang in
there a little bit longer. We can’t act rash. It could ruin everything.”
“But how will
they make the first move? Will they even take the bait?”
“We’ll just have
to see.”
“I don’t like
that.”
“We don’t have a
choice. She’s getting desperate. If we got act now, she will see through our
plans.”
“I know, I know.
It’s just…” She froze.
“You’re
shaking.”
She looked down
at her arm. “Sorry.” Anna grabbed onto her right arm.
“That bad, huh?”
“Yes.”
“Shhh. We just
put Kirika-chan down, remember?”
Anna nodded.
“You’re right, you’re right. I’m sorry.” Tsuzuki gently touched her cheek.
“Look, I know
this is hard. We just have to hold out long enough. We will act when they do.
Understood?”
Anna looked up
at him and bit her lower lip. It hurt when he was right. She dropped her
shoulders.
“Fine,” Anna
said, sighing. Tsuzuki kissed her on the lips.
“Very good,” he
said. “Who’s turn will it be to feed the baby?”
“Yours,” she
said. “I did it last time!” He thought about it for a moment.
“So it is,” the
shinigami said. “I’ve got her then.” His wife made herself smile as she nodded.

The next morning, the couple awoke to a package on their doorstep.
