Chapter Three:
Lucy Revisited:
-Lucy-
Why is everyone
so serious all of the sudden? It’s really dragging me down. I sat up in bed and
stretched my arms above my head.
“I’m bored,” I
said. Jared had to work this morning. I frowned and looked out the window. He’ll
have to leave soon again. I try not to think about that.
Tsuzuki’s become
a boring family man now. It’s all about that baby now. Kirika-chan this,
Kirika-chan that. Bleb! I hate babies. They cry and poop. So annoying. Jared and
I decided not to have kids. Too annoying. Yep, it’s going to be just us.
Suddenly, my
phone rang. Damn it. I don’t want to have to get up for it. The ringtone grew
louder on my dresser. Well, fuck.
“Hello?” I
asked.
“Baby,” Jared
said.
I quickly perked up.
“Jared,” I said.
“What’s the matter?”
“Nothing, I just
wanted to call you,” he said.
“Oh,” I said.
“Are you bored again?”
“Maybe.”
“Figures. How
long do you have?”
“Ten minutes.”
“Fair enough.”
“What are you up
to today?”
“I don’t really
know. Not much, I guess.”
“I’m just here
at work.”
“I’ll go in for
work later myself.” I am not much for chit-chat. I am just not chatty. But
somehow, it didn’t bother me. I shrugged to myself.
“This is nice,”
I said.
“Yeah,” Jared
said. I walked over to my bed and flopped back down.
For some reason,
everything is chill for now. Usually, Barbie and Tsuzuki would feel that
something was coming. I don’t care right now.
“Say, are you
free tonight?” I asked.
“Sure,” Jared
said. “For the most part. If not, come up and hang out with me!”
“Nice,” I said.
