Silent Apartment
Nancy and Haru
walked inside.
“Hello?” he
asked. “Is anybody in here?” Nancy shivered with her little girl in her arms.
She looked at her boyfriend.
“Maybe we should
go back?” she suggested.
“I think so,”
Haru said. The young man turned his head. A confused look came over his face.
“That’s
strange,” he said.
“What?” Nancy
asked.
“I think the
door’s gone,” Haru said. The way he said it confused himself. Nancy shared his
puzzled look.
“What? Are you
serious?” she asked. Her boyfriend walked over to where the door should be.
There was now nothing but a smooth wall. Haru ran his hand along the surface.
“Yeah, the door
is gone,” he said.
“How is that
even possible?” Nancy asked as she walked up next to him. She blinked many
times. Yeah, the door was really gone.
“Are we trapped
in here?” she asked. Haru frowned.
“I hope not,” he
said.
Who’s there?
The couple
turned around. There was no one there. Nancy wrinkled her nose.
“Am I going
crazy? You heard that too, right?” she asked. Haru nodded.
“Yeah…” he said.
His eyes shifted around as he looked up at the ceiling. Nancy shivered.
“I don’t like
this,” he whispered. Her little daughter whimpered at her chest. Nancy bounced
her up and down as she shushed her.
There are three
of them here.
How the hell did
they get in here?
Not good.
We can’t lose
focus. Concentrate on the task at hand. We’re running out of time!
Right!
Now, Nancy and
Haru were really confused. It sounded like a group of women talking in hushed
tones. What were they talking about? What did they mean they were running out of
time and what were they concentrating on? It would be a good time to get out of
here, but given that the door was gone…
“What should we
do now?” Nancy asked. Haru shrugged as he started to really look uneasy.
“We don’t have much else to do,” he said. “Only thing we can do is look for a way out.” The words came out flat as he spoke them. Nancy turned and looked behind at the path they were originally heading. Maybe there was a window open somewhere? Despite not having anything else to do, the couple didn’t have any high hopes for this plan.
